Peace, harmony and Tibet discussed during McLeod Ganj meeting

Dharamshala, September 12

Senior RSS functionary Indresh Kumar and Himachal Pradesh Central University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal met Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama in McLeod Ganj and discussed issues concerning peace, harmony, compassion, friendship and Tibet.

Indresh said the meeting was held in an informal atmosphere and the Dalai Lama spoke about India’s tradition of respecting all religions. He said people in India have the freedom to follow their respective faiths and beliefs and are accorded due respect.

The meeting also covered various issues related to Tibet and the Tibetan people. Indresh said organisations including the Himalaya Parivar and Bharat-Tibet Sahyog Manch have been organising prayers and programmes across the country for Tibet and the Tibetan community.

During the interaction, Prof Bansal informed the Dalai Lama that Himachal Pradesh Central University would soon organise an International Peace Conference in accordance with his wishes. The Dalai Lama expressed happiness over the proposed initiative.

The discussions also covered the Sindhu Kumbh and Tawang pilgrimage, besides other issues concerning peace and harmony.

Indresh said India is a land of religion and harmony where all faiths are respected. He said the country would continue to promote peace, dialogue and mutual respect in the world.

Senior RSS functionary  also spoke about the BRICS Summit held in New Delhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

He said the world has recognised India as one of the major global powers and congratulated Modi for strengthening the country through initiatives promoting indigenous products and the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign.

Senior RSS functionary  said India has consistently advocated dialogue, brotherhood and mutual respect rather than confrontation at BRICS forums. He said India seeks to strengthen relations with all countries, including Russia and China, through mutual respect and harmony.

He also called upon the country’s youth to move forward with a ‘Nation First’ approach and contribute to strengthening India’s position globally.
