According to Hans, the police alleged that the two were travelling from Madhya Pradesh with arms and ammunition which they intended to supply to criminal elements in Punjab.

The SSP said Mandeep Singh was wearing the SSB uniform when he was arrested. During the investigation, police found that he was posted with the 50th Battalion of the SSB at Balrampur and had been deployed along the Nepal border for the past three years, he said.

Police also claimed that both accused had a criminal background and had previously faced cases under the Arms Act, robbery and assault. They had allegedly been jailed several times in connection with these cases, according to the police.

The arrests and recovery are part of the police investigation into the alleged movement and supply of illegal firearms.
