When Love Becomes A Pilgrimage, writes Disney Brar

Radha & Krishna are two love birds who have been eternally in love, finding each other time and again in various forms.

You are the shrine, the altar, the deity & love a prayer. It is an absolute honour for me to offer my obeisance to you.

Love is a luscious fruit and it tempts the onlooker to pluck and bite into it the moment one sets eyes on it, but that is often a folly. Love has to pass through many stages before it finally ripens to a rosy red, fit to be consumed and savoured with sheer delight.  Talk of the initial touch of love, the slow unfolding of the romance, the soul blossoming when kissed by the lover, the shedding of the inhibitions, the metamorphosis, the eventual union and the completion when two sparks become one.

I have always felt compelled to be in love and consider it to be one of the most potent forces ruling this universe besides death which can profoundly alter the trajectory of one’s life. And penning this love drenched piece on Radha & Krishna’s love story and a conversation between them, feels like standing under a canopy of scarlet red roses.

Talking of these eternal lovers, one realises that just to soak in the pure awareness and realisation of carrying the seed of love in one’s DNA is precious. The most fragile core of one’s being. The self basks in the radiance and aura of this most beautiful feeling which is priceless and beyond any satiation this material world can provide one with. It is the warm glow of this love which lights up the paths of one’s journey here in the now. Somewhere in this universe, Radha is  always  chanting a deep gratitude to Krishna,  “thank you love for this light. Forever indebted,” she says.

At the core of Radha’s existence rests Krishna’s love, melting in with every beat of her heart. A love sacred enough to wake her out of the worldly slumber she was living in. She now nestles in a world beyond the if’s and but’s of this one, sipping on golden sunsets and chasing rainbows in the twilight sky. Ahhh! Love and its intoxications make life and even death worth its salt.

Once talking to her saki’s, Radha said, “I hold love in the cusp of my hands and look into its scarlet eyes which hold oceans of memories made somewhere in the stardust, swirling around in the ethers of this universe. Somewhere hands clasped tightly together wrapped in ribbons of red, somewhere lips locked in a holy kiss, breathing in the life of the other deep into each other’s lungs, somewhere toes curled together to form a heart.”

Eons have passed but love stands still, strong and resilient waiting for the day it is born yet again, Radha and Krishna coming back to relive their story once again in yet another form.

Once Krishna sat on the banks of the Yamuna and slowly the barren mist of a lifetime lifted, revealing a rosy glow of the crimson hued sanctuary of love. He sat with his eyes closed to this world, but awake in another; looking straight into the eyes of a love so sacred that his eyes brimmed over, while his soul rejoiced at the reunion, as a beautiful face lit up the screen of his consciousness with a blushed smile and a hushed forever, Radha stood in front of him resplendent in the glory of love, surrounded by a halo of divine light.

Their eyes lock for a long pregnant pause, and then Krishna’s eyes open in the physical dimension now, brimming over with an ancient remembrance. Lips instantly curl into coy smiles, lifetimes of emotions and feelings download into the other’s DNA. Hey! There you are! Where have you been? Life was literally snubbing out without you! The smiles on both the sides metamorphose into a roaring laughter. It is an earnest prayer, a literal meditation, that’s what love is and that is exactly what Radha-Krishna is, infinite and forever in love.
