Police say minor quarrel escalated into fatal blade attack
Patiala, September 3
The police have reportedly arrested three youths in connection with the killing of a 16-year-old boy in Ranjit Nagar, here recently.
SP (City) Mohit Aggarwal said the victim, identified as Tanveer, was allegedly attacked with a “kirch” (a small sharp-edged piece of metal or a blade) during a confrontation with his neighbours, following which he succumbed to his injuries. The arrested youths have been identified as Anmol, Yuvraj, alias Malli; and Yuvraj Singh Cheema.
“The three accused and Tanveer were involved in a dispute that initially began over a minor altercation. The situation later escalated into a violent attack that resulted in the teenager’s death,” the SP added.
On the basis of statements given by the victim’s family members, an FIR was registered at the Tripuri police station and the youths were arrested.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the matter is underway.
