Dharamshala, September 1

A workshop on eye care was organized at Zonal Hospital Dharamshala as part of the Health Awareness Fortnight. CMO Kangra Padma Shri Dr Omesh Kumar Bharti raised awareness among participants about eye care, eye donation, snake bites, first aid for animal bites, and the importance of hygiene.

Representatives from the Rotary Club, Inner Wheel Club, Jago Sanstha and various youth clubs participated in the workshop. The program aimed to bring important health-related information to villages through NGOs and community organizations.

Dr Bharti advised people to follow the 20-20-20 rule to prevent dry eyes caused by excessive screen use. He said that after every 20 minutes of screen time, people should look at something about 20 feet away for 20 seconds and blink frequently.

Speaking about snake bites, Dr Bharti stressed the importance of caution and timely treatment. He said snakebite treatment is available free of cost at hospitals, and Anti Snake Venom (ASV) has been made available up to the PHC level. Arrangements are also being made to keep ASV in ambulances.
