Speaker urges brothers to uphold values of care, support and mutual respect

Chandigarh, August 27

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sardar Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday extended his warm greetings to Punjabis across the globe on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

In his message, Sandhwan said the festival symbolised the sacred and unbreakable bond of love, trust and affection between sisters and brothers. He noted that Raksha Bandhan was deeply connected with the region’s rich historical and cultural heritage.

The Speaker urged brothers to honour the true spirit of the festival by pledging lifelong protection, care and support for their sisters. He emphasised that brothers should ensure their sisters never face hardships or suffering.

Sandhwan said the occasion should reinforce the values of mutual respect, care and safety within society. He underlined the importance of maintaining these values beyond the festival and fostering stronger relationships within families.

He also prayed for peace, prosperity and the strengthening of mutual harmony among all families celebrating the festival.

Raksha Bandhan is traditionally observed as a celebration of the bond between brothers and sisters, with sisters tying a rakhi around their brothers’ wrists as a symbol of affection and the brothers reaffirming their commitment to their sisters’ wellbeing.
