Consumers can register complaints about provisional, inflated, incorrect bills through dedicated PSPCL numbers, with the government promising resolution within 15 days.
Chandigarh, August 26
Punjab has introduced dedicated 24-hour helplines for electricity consumers to report disputed or incorrect bills, with the government saying complaints will be examined and resolved within 15 days.
Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said consumers could contact the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on +91 1613105055 or +91 1616650355 to register complaints about provisional, erroneous, inflated or otherwise disputed electricity bills.
The minister advised consumers to lodge complaints within 15 days of receiving a disputed bill so that the cases could be examined and appropriate action taken.
He urged consumers who receive unusually high or incorrect bills to use the dedicated facility rather than face difficulties in getting their grievances addressed.
The government said the helplines were intended to provide consumers with a simpler and more direct way of raising billing-related complaints and ensure that genuine grievances were dealt with promptly.
Sond said the Punjab government remained committed to protecting electricity consumers’ interests and resolving legitimate billing disputes.
He also assured consumers that no eligible household would lose the benefit of 300 units of free electricity a month solely because it had received a provisional, erroneous or inflated bill.
