Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta-starrer Batwara 1947 is set to hit theatres on Friday, August 14, 2026, with the film recording a moderate response in bookings. According to trade tracker Sacnilk’s latest Day 1 booking figures, the Rajkumar Santoshi directorial has sold more than 65,000 tickets across over 8,800 shows in India. The film has earned approximately Rs 4.21 crore through advance sales.
The advance booking figures indicate that Batwara 1947 is gaining momentum ahead of the Independence Day weekend. Releasing on August 14 gives the film the benefit of the national holiday on August 15, which could boost its box-office performance if it receives positive word of mouth from audiences.
However, the film faces competition from Emraan Hashmi-starrer Awarapan 2. Early advance-booking trends have placed Awarapan 2 ahead of Batwara 1947, setting the stage for an interesting box-office battle over the Independence Day weekend.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947 features Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol in key roles. Aamir Khan has produced the film.
The film also marks the reunion of Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi, who have previously worked together on popular films including Ghayal, Ghatak and Damini.
