Sohraab, shines in the IGU Northern India Junior Boys Championship 2026

12-year-old Sohraab Singh Talwar, a student of Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26 has won in the category C at the IGU Northern India Junior Boys Championship 2026 currently underway at the Chandigarh Golf Club from 10-14 August. This premier junior tournament features top young golfers from across the region competing in various age categories under the Indian Golf Union. Sohraab who has been with the Roundglass Golf Academy since March 2025 won with the scores of 74,71,71 (Par 72) which makes it two rounds of under Par.

Talking about Sohraab’s journey so far, Dronacharya Award winner Jesse Grewal, also Sohraab’s coach at the Chandigarh Golf Association (CGA), says, “Sohraab is a very talented child, and I have watched him grow as a player. His score in the IGU Northern India Junior Boys Championship is very good. Two final rounds of under par is creditable in such monsoon conditions. I always felt there was more scope for improvement with him and today his performance makes me proud of him as his coach. He has a bright future ahead of him”
Sohraab has been bringing laurels and glories through an array of junior golf tournaments held across the world right from Thailand to Scotland. Talking to The North News, Sohraab says, “I am thankful to my parents, my coaches and caddies to have guided and blessed me with their expertise and care. One should dare to do something different, and I am happy I found my passion in Golf early on in life.”
Actively playing golf since 2018, Sohraab has more than 50 trophies in his kitty bag and more than 15 prestigious titles to his name. Sharing more details, Sohraab says, “I started playing in category F (under 7) and now I have advanced to playing in category C since 2024.” Sohraab also stood first in the qualifier tournament for FCG Callaway World Championship in January 2026. The Championship is held in California USA every year in the month of July.
Talking about his inspiration, Sohraab adds on an ecstatic note, “I adore Tiger Woods. He is my all-time inspiration, and I aspire to touch zeniths of success in golf like him one day. His journey as a golf player is very inspiring as he has seen many ups and downs in his career and has come out triumphant in them all.” He signs off.
