Patiala, July 15
Patiala Police conducted a CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) at the railway station and other public places in the district ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab.
During the operation, police personnel checked passengers at the Patiala railway station and carried out searches at various public locations. Officials said similar security checks were also being conducted at hotels, paying-guest accommodations, and other sensitive areas across the district.
DSP City Sanjeev Singla said a red alert had been issued across Punjab in view of the Prime Minister’s visit. He added that Punjab Police had received directions from the Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, to conduct CASO operations and inspect public places.
“Such checks are being carried out at public locations, while hotels and PG accommodations are also being inspected,” Singla said.
He stated that the main objective of the security drive was to strengthen public confidence and keep a check on suspicious and anti-social elements.
Police officials said the operations were part of enhanced security measures being implemented across Punjab ahead of the Prime Minister’s scheduled visit.
