Patiala, July 11
A gym trainer narrowly escaped unhurt after unidentified men allegedly opened fire on his car while he was returning home from a gym in Patiala’s SST Nagar area. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining CCTV footage from the locality.
According to the victim, identified as Simar, he was driving home when a Toyota Fortuner bearing a Uttar Pradesh registration number allegedly began following his vehicle.
Simar alleged that the occupants of the Fortuner first rammed his car before asking him to stop and step out.
Fearing for his safety, he remained inside his vehicle. He further alleged that the suspects initially fired shots into the air before opening fire at his car. The bullet did not strike him, and he escaped without injury.
The victim also claimed that some of the occupants of the Fortuner were dressed in uniforms resembling those worn by police personnel.
After the incident, the suspects allegedly fled the scene in the Uttar Pradesh-registered Fortuner.
Police teams reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and began an investigation. Officers are scrutinising CCTV footage from the crime scene and nearby areas to identify the vehicle and the individuals involved.
Police said the allegations made by the victim have not yet been officially verified. The exact circumstances behind the incident and the identities of those responsible will become clear only after the investigation is completed.
