Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that women’s empowerment has remained at the heart of his government’s agenda over the past 12 years, arguing that policies focused on dignity, opportunity and inclusion have helped women take on larger roles in India’s development. Sharing details in his post on X on Friday, PM Modi said women were making significant contributions across sectors ranging from education and healthcare to entrepreneurship, science and governance.

The Prime Minister further said that these efforts have helped create an environment where women can realise their full potential and contribute even more strongly to nation building. Narendra Modi also highlighted the growing impact of women in emerging fields such as science, space research, innovation and drone technology, saying their participation was creating new opportunities and reshaping development across the country.

He also pointed to government support for Self-Help Groups, which he said had strengthened financial independence among women, particularly in rural areas. Modi’s remarks come as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government marks 12 years in office. He first became prime minister in May 2014 and secured a third consecutive term following the 2024 general election.
