Kullu, June 4
Raising concern over the growing burden of lifestyle diseases in India, Arogya Bharati on Wednesday claimed that nearly 83 percent of people in the country are suffering from illnesses linked to improper dietary habits, while diabetes cases have crossed 10 crore nationwide.
To address the issue, the organization announced plans to recruit “Arogya Mitras” across the country to spread awareness about healthy eating habits and traditional healthcare practices.
A seminar focusing on lifestyle improvement and disease prevention was organized by Arogya Bharati at Atal Sadan in Dhalpur, Kullu. The event witnessed discussions on rising health disorders and the need for preventive healthcare measures through proper diet and traditional remedies.
Speaking at the seminar, Arogya Bharati National Organization Secretary Dr. Ashok Kumar Varshney said that unhealthy food habits are becoming a major reason behind the increasing number of diseases in society. He noted that people are gradually moving away from India’s traditional healthcare systems and becoming dependent on medicines.
Dr. Varshney said the organization aims to encourage people to adopt healthier dietary practices so they can remain fit naturally without excessive dependence on medication.
Meanwhile, Arogya Mitra Training Head and North Zone Coordinator Sanjeevan Kumar highlighted the importance of traditional household remedies. He said earlier generations, especially women, possessed knowledge of using kitchen spices and home remedies to treat common illnesses, but such practices are slowly disappearing among younger generations.
He informed that women would be given priority in the recruitment of Arogya Mitras to help spread awareness of healthy food habits and traditional wellness practices at the household level.
The organization stated that the initiative would soon be expanded nationwide with the objective of promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing dependence on medicines through awareness and preventive healthcare.
