Employees working under the Institute Management Committee (IMS) and the Student Welfare Fund (SWF) in Himachal Pradesh’s ITIs and polytechnic institutes have intensified their demand for regularisation, alleging prolonged neglect despite having served for over a decade.

On Wednesday, more than a dozen employees from various institutions gathered in Dharamshala and expressed dissatisfaction over what they described as repeated assurances without concrete action from the government.

Representatives of the employees, including Manoj Kumar, said nearly 260 workers employed under the IMS/SWF system have been waiting for regularisation for the last 10 to 12 years. They claimed that while 941 employees recruited earlier had already been regularised, the remaining workers continue to be denied similar benefits.

The employees stated that they were initially appointed on a contractual basis with fixed salaries and had continued working with the expectation of eventual regularisation. They added that they have repeatedly raised the issue before the Chief Minister, ministers, and MLAs, but no final decision has been taken so far.

Warning the government against further delays, the employees said they would be forced to adopt a stronger stand if their demands are not addressed by December or January.

“We have waited for years and can no longer survive on assurances alone,” the employees said during the gathering.
