Chandigarh, June 2

A 24-year-old junior resident doctor was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a washroom at the Trauma Centre of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)-32 in Chandigarh on Tuesday.

The police said Dr. Yogesh, a postgraduate junior resident in the Department of General Medicine, was found unconscious inside the washroom. He was rushed for assistance but could not be revived. Authorities are currently examining the case from all possible angles, including the possibility of suicide, though no official cause of death has been confirmed.

Preliminary reports suggest the doctor may have administered multiple injections before his death, but investigators have not verified this claim.

Officials said all available evidence, including medical records and witness statements, is being reviewed to determine the exact circumstances of the death.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and forensic experts are analysing evidence collected from the scene.

Police said the cause of death will be known only after post-mortem and forensic reports are received, and cautioned against speculation while the investigation is ongoing.
