Chandigarh, May 18
The Punjab Police have arrested two suspected operatives linked to an alleged transnational terror-gangster network in Ludhiana, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Monday. The arrests were made during a joint operation by the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police and Counter Intelligence Punjab. The police recovered three illegal pistols and 11 live cartridges from the suspects.
The preliminary investigations suggested that the accused were acting on instructions from handlers based in Germany and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The officials alleged that the pair had been assigned to carry out targeted shootings involving high-profile individuals. The police said the operation had helped prevent potentially serious criminal activities. A case has been registered at Ladowal Police Station in Ludhiana, and further investigations are under way to trace the wider network and identify additional suspects. Punjab Police said it remained committed to dismantling organised crime networks and maintaining peace and security across the state.
