Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has launched a scathing critique of the Narendra Modi-led central government’s handling of the ongoing border stand-off with China near the Line of Actual Control (LAC). During an interaction at the National Press Club in the US, Gandhi labeled the situation as a “disaster” and alleged that Chinese troops are stationed in 4,000 square kilometres of Indian territory in Ladakh.
“If you call having Chinese troops in 4,000 square kilometres of our territory handling something well, then maybe… we have got Chinese troops occupying land the size of Delhi in Ladakh. I think that’s a disaster,” Gandhi said. He used a hypothetical scenario to underline his point, questioning how America would react if a neighbor occupied a similar expanse of territory, according to media reports.
