tHE Bus services operated by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) may be disrupted across Himachal Pradesh from May 13, following employees’ unions’ threats to suspend operations over delays in salary payments.

Drivers, conductors, and technical staff unions on Monday issued an ultimatum to the state government and HRTC management, demanding that pending salaries be released by 5 pm. The warning was issued after a joint meeting held at the HRTC workshop in Taradevi, Shimla.

The unions said employees have not yet received their April salaries, despite May already underway, leading to growing resentment among staff.

HRTC Drivers Union state president Man Singh Thakur said thousands of drivers and conductors across the state are facing difficulties due to the delay in salary disbursement. He alleged that employees are forced to struggle every month to receive their wages on time.

The unions warned that if salaries are not credited by the evening deadline, HRTC employees will stop operating buses across the state from Tuesday.

Thakur also criticized the government and HRTC management over the recurring delay in payments, saying the situation has become unacceptable for employees.
