Harvinder Singh becomes first Indian archer to win Paralympic gold medal

India made history yet again at the Paris Paralympics as India’s para-archer Harvinder Singh won gold in archery, India’s first ever Paralympic gold in Men’s Individual Recurve Open, on September 4. He delivered a stellar performance as he played with Lukasz Ciszek of Poland, eventually defeating him 6-0.

This remarkable win was Harvinder’s first ever Paralympic gold and second medal at the Paralympic Games, having previously won bronze at the Tokyo Paralympics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter, formerly known as X, to congratulate his outstanding accomplishment in the 2024 Men’s Individual Recurve Open. “His precision, focus, and unwavering spirit are outstanding. India is very happy with his accomplishment,” PM Modi wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
