Chandigarh, April 6
Multiple schools in Chandigarh and Jalandhar received threatening emails on Monday leading to police and bomb disposal squads conducting searches throughout the campuses. Threatening emails were sent to several schools across Chandigarh and Jalandhar, according to early reports. Institutions in Chandigarh’s Sectors 41, 32, 47 and 45 were among those targeted, along with Delhi Public School branches and Mayor World School in Jalandhar.
These emails are said to be abusive in nature and also threaten to harm the children. In light of this, police and bomb disposal squads have been called in to conduct a thorough search in all the buildings including the classrooms as well as areas adjacent to the schools.
One police official said that a complete search operation is being conducted, but so far nothing suspicious has been found. The concerned authorities requested parents not to panic. The cyber cell will also start investigating the source of these emails as extra security has been provided in the schools.
These incidents have increased the worry of the parents who have already faced many such threats over the past few weeks from Punjab, Haryana, as well as Chandigarh. Several other warnings have previously been issued to various schools as well as Punjab and Haryana High Courts, but they turned out to be fake threats.
