Shimla, April 2

The Himachal Pradesh government has announced fresh toll rates for certain categories of vehicles for the financial year 2026-27, while continuing toll exemption for light vehicles registered in the state.

According to a notification issued by the State Taxes and Excise Department, the updated rates have been introduced under the Himachal Pradesh Tolls Act, 1975, and will be applicable from April 1, 2026.

As per the revised toll structure, commercial vehicles with three axles and a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of up to 45,000 kg will be charged Rs 570 per day.

The toll for light commercial vehicles, light goods vehicles and mini buses has been fixed at Rs 320 per day. This rate will also cover certain categories of goods vehicles and two-axle trucks included in the notified weight bracket.

For passenger vehicles with a seating capacity of more than 12+1, the daily toll has been set at Rs 100.

The government has also laid down the quarterly and annual toll formulas. For passenger vehicles in the above category, the quarterly amount will be calculated at 30 times the daily toll, while the yearly charge will be 90 times the daily rate.

In the case of commercial vehicles covered under the revised list, the quarterly toll will be 35 times the daily rate, and the annual payment will be four times the quarterly amount.

At the same time, the state has provided relief by keeping all light vehicles registered in Himachal Pradesh, whether private or commercial, including taxis, outside the toll net under Schedule II for 2026-27.

The move is expected to impact commercial transport operators, while local light vehicle owners will continue to benefit from the exemption.
