Dubai, March 25
An Iranian military spokesperson on Wednesday ridiculed US efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement, claiming that the Americans were effectively negotiating among themselves.
Lt. Col. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, representing the Iranian military’s Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, delivered these remarks in a prerecorded message broadcast on state television.
“The strategic power you once spoke of has now become a strategic failure,” he stated. “If the nation that calls itself a global superpower had the ability, it would have already resolved this situation. Do not present your defeat as an agreement. The time of your empty promises is over.”
He further remarked, “Have your internal disputes escalated to the point where you are negotiating with yourselves?”
Zolfaghari’s comments came soon after the Trump administration conveyed a 15-point ceasefire proposal to Iran via Pakistan.
“Our position has remained unchanged from the beginning and will continue to do so: we will never reach an understanding with someone like you,” Zolfaghari said. “Not now, not ever.”
