Mathura (UP), March 24
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday called for greater vigilance against illegal immigration, urging people to identify suspected intruders and report them to the authorities. Speaking after inaugurating an ashram, Bhagwat said citizens should remain alert to ensure that “foreigners” do not secure employment in India, while stressing that there should be no discrimination against Indian citizens.
His remarks come ahead of assembly elections in several states, including Assam and West Bengal, where the issue of illegal immigration has remained politically sensitive and has frequently featured in BJP campaigns. Bhagwat also renewed his call for a three-child population policy, saying India should reconsider its approach to family size.
He said doctors recommended three children for what he described as better family health and social development, and claimed that countries with low birth rates were now trying to raise fertility levels.Bhagwat said any change in population policy should be based not only on legal measures but also on public awareness and understanding.
He also spoke against what he described as “forced” religious conversions, saying that while the government could legislate, society itself should act to prevent such practices.
The RSS chief said people who had converted to other faiths but wished to return should be welcomed back.
During his address, Bhagwat also contrasted India’s cultural outlook with what he described as the more “aggressive” models of countries such as the United States and China, saying India’s tradition was rooted in coexistence, ethical conduct and cultural confidence.
He said ashrams played an important role in shaping values, discipline and a broader perspective on life, and argued that India’s traditional systems of learning remained relevant in today’s world.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and several religious leaders were present at the event.
