Dubai, March 13

US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh threat against Iran in a strongly worded social media post, claiming Tehran’s military capabilities were being “decimated” and vowing further action.

Posting on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump wrote: “Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today.”

In the post, he claimed that “Iran’s Navy is gone, their Air Force is no longer, missiles, drones and everything else are being decimated, and their leaders have been wiped from the face of the earth.”

Trump also accused Iran of decades of violence, writing that the country had been “killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years”.

In one of the most striking lines of the post, he wrote: “And now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them.”

He ended the message by calling it “a great honour”.

The remarks mark a sharp escalation in rhetoric from the US president and are likely to intensify tensions between Washington and Tehran amid already heightened regional instability.
