J&K Administration Transfers 89 Officials Ahead of Assembly Elections

In a major reshuffle, the Jammu and Kashmir administration transferred 89 government officials, including deputy commissioners and other high-ranking officers, in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections. According to the news outlet Hindustan Times, the move follows a directive from the Election Commission, which mandated the transfer of officers posted in their home districts to ensure a fair electoral process.

This decision aligns with the Election Commission’s broader strategy to conduct assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir by September 30, as per the Supreme Court’s deadline. The reshuffle involves officials from various departments, including secretaries, commissioners, director generals, managing directors, and directors.

The Election Commission is expected to announce the election schedule shortly, although it is still unclear which states will be included. The recent transfers in Jammu and Kashmir underscore the administration’s readiness to facilitate a smooth and transparent election process in the Union Territory.
