The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has approved a series of major decisions covering education, urban development, social welfare and public sector recruitment. The Cabinet cleared a proposal to introduce the CBSE curriculum in 100 government schools across the state and sanctioned ₹100 crore to help them meet the board’s prescribed standards. Officials said the funds would be used to remove infrastructure and staffing gaps, with the aim of starting CBSE classes by March 2026.
To support the move, the cabinet approved the creation of 400 posts each for mathematics and English teachers. It also decided that every such school would have one special educator and one yoga teacher. Separate staffing norms and qualifications will apply to these CBSE schools, Industry Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan said after the meeting. Each school will also have one guard and three multi-task workers.Chauhan was accompanied by PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh.
In another key decision, the Cabinet gave approval for the development of a new township in Baddi, which the government says is being planned as a world-class urban centre.
The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Chief Minister Sukh Aashray Scheme, extending its benefits to children whose parents have at least 70% disability. Ten posts of Block Development Officer (BDO) will be filled through direct recruitment. Under the Chief Minister Laghu Dukandaar Yojana, the Cabinet decided to waive loans of up to ₹1 lakh for small traders in urban areas with an annual income below ₹10 lakh.
In the health and infrastructure sectors, approvals were granted to fill 174 professor posts and 600 assistant staff nurse posts in medical colleges, along with 40 junior engineer posts in the Jal Shakti Department.
Industry Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan said the decisions reflected the government’s focus on strengthening public education, healthcare, employment and urban planning across Himachal Pradesh.
