Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced that all pending medical reimbursement claims of pensioners will be cleared within the next month. The assurance came during a meeting with representatives of the Himachal Pradesh Pensioners’ Joint Front on Monday. Sukhu said the state government was committed to the welfare of its employees and pensioners, describing them as the “backbone” of the administration. Addressing the delegation, he said the government had been working to resolve pensioners’ demands and was releasing dues from time to time despite financial constraints.
He added that the state was focusing on generating resources while maintaining fiscal discipline, and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to fulfil all legitimate liabilities of employees and pensioners. The Chief Minister also accepted an invitation to attend the Pensioners’ Day event scheduled for December 17 in Bilaspur.
President of the Pensioners’ Joint Front, Atma Ram Sharma, thanked the Chief Minister for the decision and expressed hope that the government would soon restore other financial benefits. He said the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) meeting for pensioners should be convened by April to address their remaining demands.
