Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday said that his government has launched a “historic fight” against the drug known locally as chitta, stressing that protecting young people from addiction remains a top priority for the state. Sukhu said stricter action is being taken in panchayats where the drug trade is active, adding that properties acquired through the narcotics network are being seized. He said such assets will be demolished under the PIT-NDPS Act as part of the government’s intensified crackdown.

The Chief Minister also thanked the opposition for supporting the campaign, saying the collective effort has strengthened the state’s anti-drug push. “The whole of Himachal is united in this fight, and we will not rest until this menace is eradicated,” he said.
