Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Wednesdy said that Punjab Police have foiled a major terror plot after the Anti-Gangster Task Force and SAS Nagar police arrested four operatives linked to foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon of the Lawrence Bishnoi network. The arrests followed an exchange of fire today near the Steel Strips Towers along the Dera Bassi–Ambala highway. The DGP said the suspects, who were hiding in a house near the road, opened fire as officers launched a cordon-and-search operation. Two of the accused were wounded when police returned fire. According to investigators, the group had been acting on instructions from a handler based overseas and had been planning targeted attacks in the Tricity and Patiala region. The police recovered seven .32-calibre pistols and 70 live cartridges from the site.
