Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed the opening session of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, calling for a renewed global commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth as the forum met in Africa for the first time. Speaking at the session, which focused on development pathways, Modi said the moment was an opportunity for the international community to “revisit our development parameters” and ensure that economic progress benefits all sections of society.
He added that India’s civilisational philosophy, particularly the doctrine of Integral Humanism, offered a constructive framework for nations seeking balanced and people-centred growth. The G20 Summit in Johannesburg marks a significant milestone for the African continent, with leaders discussing reforms, development cooperation and strategies to address widening global inequalities.
