Cold Intensifies in Himachal, no rain for two weeks: Met Department

Himachal Pradesh is likely to remain dry for the next two weeks, with weather officials indicating that November could pass without significant rainfall. The Meteorological Centre in Shimla said on  Thursday that temperatures across the state are generally near normal during the day, while night temperatures have dipped two to three degrees Celsius below average in several areas. The lowest night temperature was recorded in Tabo, Lahaul-Spiti, at –4.5°C, followed by –2.5°C in Kukumseri. Officials said only 1.1 mm of rainfall has been recorded so far this month — 83% below normal.

Shobhit Katiyar, a scientist at the Shimla Met Centre, said the outlook suggests clear skies throughout November, with no rain or snowfall expected in either the plains or the hill regions over the next fortnight. Cold winds have begun sweeping both mountainous and low-lying areas during morning and evening hours. Light fog was reported in Bilaspur and Sundernagar early in the day, briefly affecting visibility. According to the Met Centre, cold conditions are likely to intensify over the coming days, particularly in higher altitudes where minimum temperatures may remain below freezing.
