Punjab has been recognised as a top achiever under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024 by the Government of India, marking a major endorsement of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s industry-friendly policies, said the state government in an official statement. The award was presented by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal at a ceremony in New Delhi. The recognition, granted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), highlights Punjab’s progress across five key reform areas — Business Entry, Construction Permit Enablers, Investment Enablers, Sector-Specific Healthcare, and Services Sector.

Officials said the recognition underscores Punjab’s commitment to creating a transparent, efficient, and investor-friendly environment, consolidating its leadership in India’s Ease of Doing Business index. Under Chief Minister Mann’s leadership, Punjab has witnessed a surge in industrial growth and investor confidence. Since March 2022, when his government took office, the state has received investment proposals worth ₹1.23 lakh crore, projected to generate employment for around 4.7 lakh youth.

The government attributes this momentum to transparent governance, political stability, and a harmonious social climate. Major growth has been recorded in sectors including food processing, textiles, auto components, hand tools, bicycles, IT, and tourism, positioning Punjab as a model state for industrial development.

With global investors from Japan, the USA, Germany, the UK, UAE, Switzerland, France, and Spain showing growing interest, officials say Punjab is emerging as not only India’s but also a global preferred investment destination. The Fast Track Punjab Portal, offering over 150 online business services, has further boosted the state’s reputation, eliminating the need for offline applications and providing seamless single-window clearances for investors.
