Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness of the Indian Army during the Army Commanders’ Conference in Jaisalmer and his visit to the forward areas of Tanot and Laungewala in Rajasthan. Senior military leadership, including Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Vice Chief of the Army Staff Pushpendra Singh, and all Army Commanders attended the conference. Key discussions focused on Grey Zone Warfare, jointness, innovation, and self-reliance.
In his address, Rajnath Singh described Operation Sindoor as an embodiment of India’s military strength and strategic clarity. “Operation Sindoor will go down in history not just as a military operation but as a symbol of the nation’s courage and restraint. Our mission for peace will continue as long as even a single terrorist mindset remains alive,” he said.
He underlined that the operation marked a new strategic doctrine — one where India responds to terrorist activities on its own terms. “This is New India’s Defence Doctrine, which embodies both resolve and courage,” he said, urging commanders to remain alert and focused on defence diplomacy, indigenous capability, and force modernisation.
He praised the role of the Indian Army in Jammu & Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 abrogation, saying that “the streets are filled with hope, not unrest.” He also highlighted India’s balanced approach along the northern border, combining dialogue with firm military readiness.
He lauded the adaptability of Indian soldiers in challenging terrains — from the icy heights of Siachen to the deserts of Rajasthan and counter-insurgency zones in dense forests. “Technology is vital, but the human spirit remains our greatest strength,” he said, emphasising modern warfare’s invisible domains like cyberspace, electronic disruption and space control.
During the conference, Singh inaugurated new technology enablers including Edge Data Centres for the Konark and Fire & Fury Corps, launched an Equipment Helpline, the Sainik Yatri Mitra App, and released a millet-based recipe compendium compiled by the Army Service Corps. He also inaugurated ‘Naman Centres’ for veterans and families of fallen soldiers.
Later, at Laungewala, Singh paid homage to the Army’s fallen heroes at the iconic Laungewala Yudh Sthal by laying a wreath.
