OpenAI has introduced a new subscription tier, ChatGPT Go, in India at a price of ₹399 per month. The plan offers users access to popular features like higher usage limits, image generation, file uploads, and extended memory, at a lower cost than the existing Plus plan. Announcing the rollout, Nick Turley, Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, said that India will be the first market to receive ChatGPT Go before it expands globally. He noted that affordability and local payment support have been among the top requests from Indian users, and the new tier has been designed to meet those needs.
The launch of ChatGPT Go in India focuses on both affordability and accessibility. By offering a lower price and support for UPI payments, OpenAI has addressed two major barriers for Indian users. With this rollout, India serves as the pilot market for a broader global strategy, and user feedback here is expected to guide the service’s worldwide expansion.
