Kareena Kapoor offered quiet strength and support to her sister Karisma Kapoor and her children, Samaira and Kiaan, as they bid farewell to industrialist Sunjay Kapur at his funeral in Delhi on June 19. The former husband of Karisma, Sunjay passed away in London on June 12 after suffering a heart attack during a polo match.
The Kapoor sisters were seen standing side by side during the funeral service held at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground. In a video shared by paparazzi accounts, Kareena is seen walking closely beside Karisma after the family offered floral tributes to Sunjay. She gently placed a hand on her sister’s arm as they moved past family members and well-wishers, a quiet gesture of comfort in a difficult moment.
In another image from the service, Karisma stood beside her children as Samaira and Kiaan shared a heartfelt hug. Kareena remained close to the three, with her husband Saif Ali Khan seen just behind her, offering additional support.
Earlier footage also showed Karisma with her children during the tribute, as they honored Sunjay’s memory before the cremation.
A prayer meeting in Sunjay’s memory is scheduled for June 22, from 4 PM to 5 PM at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi, according to a note circulated on social media.
Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12 while playing polo in England. His company, Sona Comstar, confirmed the cause of death as a heart attack, though further details have not been officially released.
Sunjay married Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and the couple had two children together — Samaira, now 19, and Kiaan, 13. The two parted ways amicably, finalizing their divorce in 2016 after filing through mutual consent in 2014.
