Actor and UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador Dia Mirza attended a special preview of Disney Pixar’s upcoming animated feature Elio, held in Mumbai last evening. Known for her advocacy for environmental causes and her work with children and communities, Dia found a personal connection in the film’s message of identity, courage, and connection.
Elio follows the journey of a young boy who is accidentally transported across the galaxy and mistaken for Earth’s ambassador by an interplanetary council. As Elio navigates alien worlds and encounters curious life forms, he must grapple with what it truly means to represent his home and find his place in the universe.
Moved by the film’s emotional depth and creative storytelling, Dia shared her thoughts after the screening:
“Elio is a beautiful celebration of imagination and heart. As a mother and someone who speaks for the planet and future generations, I found the story deeply meaningful. It encourages young minds to be empathetic, responsible, and brave — qualities that are more important now than ever.”
Elio is set to hit theatres across India on June 20, 2025, and will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
