The cast of Border 2 is now officially assembled. Sunny Deol on Tuesday unveiled the first group picture from the sets of the upcoming war drama, featuring co-stars Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. The team has regrouped in Pune to begin the film’s third shooting schedule at the National Defence Academy.
Deol captioned the post, “When all ‘Forces’ come together! #BORDER2…”, confirming that Diljit and Ahan have joined the ensemble.
The photo features the four actors seated in uniformed looks, with Varun sporting a moustache for the role. Behind them stand the film’s core team and makers.
Mixed Response to Varun’s Presence
While fans welcomed Diljit Dosanjh’s entry with comments like “He stuns every time” and “Excited to see him in uniform,” some weren’t convinced about Varun Dhawan’s casting.
“What is Varun doing in this lineup?” questioned one user, while others suggested names like Vicky Kaushal or Sidharth Malhotra as better fits. Still, Varun’s new look has piqued curiosity.
Ahan’s sister Athiya Shetty also showed support, reposting the photo with “Can’t wait for this one.”
About Border 2
Directed by Anurag Singh (Kesari) and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 is the sequel to the 1997 classic Border. The original, set during the Indo-Pak war of 1971, featured Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, and Akshaye Khanna. Suniel Shetty played BSF officer Bhairon Singh — a role now echoed by son Ahan’s presence in the sequel.
Border 2 is slated for release on January 23, 2026.
