Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold a series of high-level bilateral meetings with Canada PM Mark Carney, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and newly appointed German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada later today.
The talks are expected to focus on a wide range of global challenges, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, the state of the global economy, and the concerns of the Global South — an issue Modi has consistently championed in international forums.
Modi confirmed his arrival in Calgary on Tuesday morning, writing on X (formerly Twitter):
“Landed in Calgary, Canada, to take part in the G7 Summit. Will be meeting various leaders at the Summit and sharing my thoughts on important global issues. Will also be emphasising the priorities of the Global South.”
