More than 600 complaints from non-resident Punjabis have been successfully addressed through a series of monthly online grievance redressal meetings, Punjab’s NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said on Saturday.

Speaking at the sixth such “NRI Milnee” held virtually from Amritsar, Dhaliwal said the initiative has received 658 complaints in total over the past six months. Of these, 607 have been resolved, while 51 remain pending due to court proceedings.

“We are fully committed to resolving the concerns of our NRI brothers and sisters. These online Milnees are held every month with that very purpose,” Dhaliwal said, adding that the pending issues would continue to be monitored and assistance provided as per legal guidelines.

Saturday’s session drew 123 fresh complaints from NRIs around the world via digital platforms. Dhaliwal assured that all of them would be addressed ahead of the next Milnee, scheduled for June.

He urged members of the Punjabi diaspora to continue bringing forward their grievances, reaffirming the state government’s dedication to ensuring swift and fair redressal. “It gives me great pride and satisfaction to be able to help resolve these cases,” he said.

Senior police and administrative officials joined Dhaliwal during the meeting, including DIG NRI Affairs Rajpal Singh Sandhu, AIG Jagjit Singh Walia, AIG Ajinder Singh of the NRI Wing, and District Revenue Officer Navkirat Singh.

The monthly NRI Milnees, launched as a digital outreach to support the diaspora, have become a key part of Punjab’s engagement with its global community, offering a direct channel to address property disputes, bureaucratic delays, and other legal challenges faced by overseas Punjabis.
