Ludhiana, May 30

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Sanjeev Arora filed his nomination papers on Friday for the upcoming Ludhiana West assembly by-election, scheduled for June 19. The nomination was preceded by a massive roadshow in Ludhiana, led by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and Former Delhi CM Atishi.

Addressing party supporters, Kejriwal said the large turnout demonstrated the public’s continued support for AAP’s governance model. “Punjab has changed. People now vote for performance. The response in Ludhiana shows they stand with Sanjeev Arora and a progressing Punjab,” he said.

The by-election was necessitated by the death of sitting MLA Gurpreet Gogi, who had won the seat in 2022 as an AAP candidate. Kejriwal urged voters to back Arora to ensure smoother coordination with the ruling state government. “You voted for Gogi ji against the arrogance of the previous MLA. Now vote for the one whose government is in power,” he added.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann echoed Kejriwal’s sentiments, calling the roadshow a symbol of public trust in AAP’s ‘politics of work’. “This wave of support is a sign that Sanjeev Arora will win with a huge margin,” Mann told the crowd. Arora was accompanied by a large number of party workers and local residents during the filing of his nomination at the district office.
