As part of its nationwide campaign to safeguard the Indian Constitution, the Congress party held a ‘Save the Constitution’ rally in Nangal, drawing a large turnout from the Changar region. The event was led by senior party leader Harbans Lal Mahandli and prominently featured Vishwapal Rana, son of former Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana K.P.
Addressing the gathering, Vishwapal Rana accused the central government of undermining the country’s democratic institutions. “Forces aiming to weaken the Constitution and the democratic framework are active today,” he said. “The Congress will oppose these threats at every level. The Constitution is the foundation of our freedom, rights, and equality.”
“We will not let the dignity of the Constitution be compromised at any cost. Opposing those who seek to take away the rights of common people is not only our political but also our collective responsibility. The people of Changar have always stood by justice, the Constitution, and democracy and will continue to do so,” Harbans Lal Mahandli emphasized while addressing the gathering. He said that the rally has significantly strengthened Congress’s grassroots presence in Nangal and the Changar region, with the party making it clear that it will contest the upcoming elections with full vigor.
Among the notable attendees were former Market Committee Chairman Harbans Lal Mahandli, senior Congress leader Rana Vishwapal Singh, Vinod Sharma (district general secretary, Congress Committee Rupnagar).
