The Punjab government’s Women Helpline 181 is providing critical emergency assistance to women in distress, offering support round-the-clock across the state, Minister of Social Security, Women, and Child Development Dr. Baljit Kaur said on Monday. The helpline, which receives nearly 150 calls daily, helps around 4,000 to 5,000 women each month. “Any woman facing violence or harassment can seek immediate help by calling 181,” Dr. Kaur said, adding that support is swiftly provided through One Stop Centers and departmental offices across Punjab.
The government is also planning to extend the helpline’s reach by linking it with new district hubs focused on women’s empowerment. Dr. Kaur emphasized that the initiative, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, reflects the government’s commitment to women’s safety and welfare.
