The Income Tax officials raided the premises of Congress MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh in Chandigarh and Kapurthala on Thursday, targeting multiple locations linked to the leader. Rana Gurjeet, one of Punjab’s wealthiest legislators, owns distilleries and sugar mills across Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. His family also operates two ethanol plants in Punjab.
According to reports, raids were conducted at Singh’s residences in Chandigarh’s Sectors 4 and 9, as well as Flat No. 53 in the MLA’s hostel. His son, Rana Inder Partap Singh, is an Independent MLA from Sultanpur Lodhi. The Income Tax Department has not yet issued an official statement on the operation.
