Punjab’s Industry and Commerce Minister, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, announced that the state has secured over Rs 88,000 crore in investments since March 2022. Speaking to reporters, Sond extended an invitation to national and international investors, noting that Punjab’s industry-friendly policies have successfully attracted global investment. He revealed that 5,574 investment proposals, amounting to approximately Rs 88,014 crore, have been received, with the potential to create around 401,217 jobs. Key projects during this period include major investments from Tata Steel Limited (Rs 2,600 crore), Sanathan Polycot Pvt. Ltd. (Rs 1,600 crore), and Ambuja Cements Limited (Rs 1,400 crore), among others.
Sond encouraged entrepreneurs to establish businesses in Punjab, assuring them of the Mann-led government’s full support. He emphasized that the state offers a conducive and peaceful environment for investment, with industry-friendly policies allowing businesses, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to begin operations easily. The Invest Punjab portal, which ranks first among the 28 Indian states for efficiency, has seen nearly 58,000 SMEs register, marking a significant achievement for the state’s business landscape.
