New Delhi, January 24

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Friday accused the BJP and Delhi Police of compromising the security of AAP National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The leaders claimed a “conspiracy” behind the removal of Punjab Police personnel from Kejriwal’s security.

Mann announced that AAP had written to the Election Commission, demanding the restoration of Kejriwal’s Punjab Police security. “We do not trust Delhi Police, which comes under Amit Shah. They remain mute spectators while we face constant threats,” he said, adding that the party shared intelligence inputs regarding threats on January 15 and ahead of Republic Day.

“Deadly attacks on Arvind Kejriwal have been attempted, and Punjab Police played a key role in foiling them. Despite repeated threats, his Punjab Police security has been removed due to BJP’s ‘jugalbandi’ with Delhi Police,” Mann alleged during a joint press conference in New Delhi.

The leaders questioned the BJP’s motives, accusing the party of harboring hatred towards Punjab. “Punjabis have made the most sacrifices for the country. Treating them with suspicion is an insult,” they said.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav clarified during a press briefing yesterday that Punjab Police shares all threat inputs with concerned agencies. He confirmed that Punjab Police security was withdrawn based on directives from the Election Commission and Delhi Police.
