Actor Saif Ali Khan, 54, was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday, five days after being repeatedly stabbed in a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence. Khan suffered multiple stab wounds, including two deep injuries near his spinal cord, and underwent emergency surgeries following the attack on January 16.

The attack occurred last Thursday early morning when Khan’s nanny, Eliyama Philip, encountered an armed intruder demanding ₹1 crore. Philip was injured in the wrist, and Khan sustained six stab wounds while attempting to protect his family. CCTV footage shows the suspect entering the building at 1:37 a.m. and fleeing around 2:33 a.m.

The attacker, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a national-level wrestler from Bangladesh, was arrested in Thane on January 19. Shehzad reportedly claimed to have competed at district and national levels in his home country. He is currently in police custody.

Police revealed that four male domestic helpers were present during the attack but failed to intervene, while Khan fought off Shehzad alone. Investigators also disclosed details of Shehzad’s route into the building, including climbing pipes and entering through a bathroom window on the 12th floor.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif’s wife, ensured the safety of their family members during the incident, relocating them to a safer location on the 12th floor. Bhajan Singh Rana, an auto-rickshaw driver, unknowingly assisted Khan in getting to the hospital while he was heavily bleeding. The investigation into the attack is ongoing as police continue to gather evidence.
