141 symptomatic patients tested since January; CMO urges precautions as most recover from mild illness

Dharamshala, September 7

As many as 48 people have tested positive for swine flu in Kangra district since January, while 141 patients with symptoms of the infection have been tested, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Omesh Bharti has said.

No deaths had been reported among the patients, while most cases involved mild symptoms and patients were recovering after treatment, he added.

Dr Bharti urged people experiencing symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, fever or bodyache to take precautions. He advised them to consume nutritious food, stay adequately hydrated and wear masks to prevent the infection from spreading.

The CMO further said even mild symptoms should not be ignored, as failure to follow precautions could lead to the infection spreading to other family members.
