15 e-buses added to HRTC fleet in Kullu

MLA Sunder Singh Thakur flags off vehicles; depot strength rises to 32

Fifteen new electric buses have been added to the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) fleet at the Sarvari bus stand in Kullu, taking the total number of such buses operating from the depot to 32.

Kullu Sadar MLA Sunder Singh Thakur flagged off the newly added buses on their respective routes at the Sarvari bus stand.

Thakur said 17 electric buses were already operating from Kullu and the addition of 15 more had increased the fleet to 32. He said Kullu was the first HRTC depot in the state to introduce electric bus services.

“The movement of small vehicles towards the Kullu bus stand through Bhootnath School has resumed, while efforts are underway to facilitate the movement of heavy vehicles as well,” the MLA added.

Thakur said the previous government had incurred significant expenditure on repairing the bridge and the matter was now under scrutiny. He said the Congress government was also working on the issue.

“Work is underway to beautify the Kullu bus stand and remove encroachments from surrounding areas.,” he added.

Thakur also said a ropeway from the Kullu bus stand to Pej was proposed and work was underway in this direction.
