Youths staged a peaceful protest in Dharamshala on Wednesday against the alleged NEET paper leak and what they described as irregularities in the country’s examination system. The protesters demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and called for greater transparency, accountability and comprehensive reforms in the education system.
Holding a peaceful demonstration in support of students protesting in Delhi, the participants expressed concern over the future of lakhs of aspirants appearing for competitive examinations. They urged the government to strengthen the examination process and ensure that such alleged irregularities do not recur.
Among the protesters, Vipasha from Dharamshala said the country’s education system was facing a serious crisis, with repeated allegations of paper leaks undermining students’ confidence. She alleged that irregularities in competitive examinations had placed lakhs of students under immense mental stress and urged the government to take concrete steps to restore trust in the system.
Another protester, Sahil Sharma, said students’ concerns should be treated with seriousness and reiterated the demand for the resignation of the Union Education Minister. He said the Dharamshala protest was organised in solidarity with the ongoing student movement in Delhi and added that the agitation would continue until the government responded to their demands.
Teacher Navneet Sharma, who also joined the protest, said questioning those in authority was a fundamental democratic right and that education should encourage critical thinking. He said the government must ensure accountability if allegations of irregularities in the examination system continue to surface. Stressing that students and their families invest years of effort in preparing for competitive examinations, he said the recruitment and examination process must be fair, transparent and credible.
The protesters urged the government to implement meaningful reforms in the examination system, enhance transparency and take effective measures to safeguard the interests of students. The demonstration concluded peacefully, with participants reaffirming their demand for a more accountable and reliable education system.
