The State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) has fined the Solan Municipal Corporation Rs 9.9 lakh for failing to manage legacy waste scientifically at the Salogra Solid Waste Management site. The penalty, imposed on September 28, covers a period of 198 days, from December 19, 2023, to July 4, 2024. According to media reports, the fine was levied after an inspection on June 28 revealed inadequate facilities for the scientific collection, channelling, and treatment of waste at the site. The SPCB cited non-compliance with environmental standards as the primary reason for the penalty.
